The fourth edition of the Night of the Samovodskata Charshiya will be held on September, 19th. The Crafts Street feast will have а retro twist, reminiscent of times past. The event starts at 11 pm with crafts school for children and adults. Master craftsmen will demonstrate old techniques they have mustered and preserved in time to all willing to try. There will be demonstrations throughout the day, up to 4 pm.
The actual event will run from 6 pm to 11 pm. The evening will begin with a review of authentic national costumes (narodni nosii) from private collections. More than 60 women’s and children’s dresses, some of which more than 130 years old, from all the ethnographic areas of the country will be presented during the review. Members of Sedyanka Workshop will show how were the unique embroideries, belts and clothing decoration made in the past.
A concert of the unusual lady quartet ETNOTIX (rebec, percussion, vocals and lead guitar) starts at 8 pm.
On Saturday evening the artisan street will be illuminated by torches and lanterns; all 16 shops will be open and craftsmen will demonstrate their skills to curious visitors. There will also be stalls for handmade jewellery and accessories. The celebration will be complemented with art installations and retro photo shop and restaurants will offer desserts based on old Veliko Tarnovo recipes.
