Veliko Tarnovo celebrates its holiday on March 22 with a procession, concerts and a large-scale exhibition

After a two-year break due to the pandemic, Veliko Tarnovo will celebrate its holiday – March 22. The Day of the Old Capital marks the memorable victory of Tsar Ivan Asen II in the battle of Klokotnitsa and the subsequent rise of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. The colorful festive program includes ceremonial rituals, a big city procession, concerts, a solemn session, opening of a large exhibition, as well as a screening of the audio-visual show “Tsarevgrad Tarnov – sound and light”, combined with spectacular fireworks.

Post and Tele Exhibition in Veliko Tarnovo

path_200363Post and Tele Exhibition attracts visitors in Veliko Tarnovo. The intriguing exposition is housed in the building of the Central Post Office (the second entrance down the stairs off the main Nezavisimost Street). Currently the number of the exhibits is just over 200.

Among the items is the bureau of a post office director; it is equipped with two phones, documentation and ink cartridges, one of which dates from the 1940s. These are all taken from the post office in the village Nedan. Continue Reading

Exhibition dedicated to African culture in Veliko Tarnovo

Author of the exhibition is Burama Keita, of Malian origin but currently residing in Bulgaria and dealing with African culture.

The exhibitionis called Africa: My land, My Soul and is part of a long-term project and will stay in Veliko Tarnovo from October 6th to 30th October. Visitors will have the opportunity to see a different culture presented in the old capital of Bulgaria. The exhibition will cover different topics such as history, geography, literature, and modern and traditional African painting. You can also hear and see African music and dancing at the opening of the exhibition which will be held in French (with interpretation into Bulgarian).

The opening is today, 6th October, from 5 pm; the venue – Rafael Mihailov Exhibition Halls, New Corpus Hall, 1st level, 1 Rafael Mihailov str.
