The sports complex “Hemus” is the latest acquisition of Veliko Tarnovo. If you, your friends and family love sports or you just need some healthy experience while you are in the city, you can easily go to the sports centre. Maybe you want to spend some quality time with your kids, playing together or you just want a sound mind in a sound body. The sports are suitable for both children and adults so you can go have some fun together!
An interesting fact is that two of the tennis courts are heated and covered with a balloon, which is making the complex the only one suitable for training during the winter in theVeliko Tarnovo region!

CAMPING SEASON 2017 – Kapinovo Monastery

Campsite Kapinovo Monastery is located at the foot of Elena Balkan next to Kapinovo village. Kapinovo is one of the oldest villages in Veliko Tarnovo region. It has many years long story that began from the time of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. Back in those time, the village was a feudal ownership of Tarnovo’s kings.
The camping is next to Veselina river shore in Kapinovski monastery “Saint Nikolay Wonderworker” and it is about 20 km away south from the old capital-Veliko Tarnovo city. 5 km from the camp base is placed the beautiful Kapinovski waterfall with crystal clear white cliffs. The area is forest, surrounded by high rocky hills.

4th Egg Fest in Pavlikeni

Pavlikeni is organizing its Egg Feast for the fourth time on April, 29th. The celebrations start at 11 am in the Kiril Rakarov Town Park and are going to last 11 hours. Sponsor and co-organizer of the fest will be the local Haypro Egg Factory which will provide 4000 eggs for the day. Cooking contest, concert, competitions and many attractions will be featured in the feast. An egg-shaped photo corner will also be available.

Everyone will be presented with the opportunity to taste the delicious omelettes prepared on the spot. This year they will be 1001! Also many egg-related crafts will be demonstrated and there will be many stalls with souvenirs, sweet treats and flowers. A specially designated area will show traditions typical for the villages in the area.

A key point in the day will be the cooking competition where everyone can show their skills in preparing appetizers, dishes and desserts from eggs. The jury will be headed by the renowned cook Ivan Zvezdev. All the prizes will be egg-shaped.

A large stage will also be set up; throughout the day it will hosts the performances of many artists, musicians and bands.

Best Town to Live in Bulgaria Competition

Veliko Tarnovo enters a race for the Best Town to Live in Bulgaria Title. The competition is organized by Darik Radio for yet another year. The town to claim the top spot should score best results following 30 criteria concerning the development and the quality of life in the respective town. Veliko Tarnovo, Sofia, Varna and Burgas are the towns which claimed the top honour in the previous years. Radio listeners can also cast their vote online till the end of April here:

Veliko Tarnovo with a new cinema

Iskra Community Centre (between the Police Station and the Green Market) is to host a cinema again after 25 years, Yantra Dnes announced last week. The old hall will be renovated and 3 smaller contemporary halls will be formed. The reconstruction process will take at least 6-7 months meaning the new theatre (which will not be Arena) will start operating in October at the earliest. The new cinema operator is Sofia based and has movie theatres in Sofia, Plovdiv and Targovishte.
