The Procedure for granting the Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport concession has officially started, it was announced by the Government Press Service. On July, 29th the Cabinet adopted a decision to launch the procedure for granting a public service concession for the operation and management of Gorna Oryahovitsa Civil Airport.
The main goal will be to attract a financially stable private investor to contribute to the development of the operations of the airport, ensure airport traffic and improve the airport’s commercial activities, was also said in the Government press release.
With the right investment in runways, buildings and equipment the airport is sure to bring the attention of many low cost and cargo airlines.
The hottest day of the year and Veliko Tarnovo workers continue to improve the city. They are currently repairing streets and pavements around the city battling the high temperatures. At a rapid pace they are repairing pavements on ‘Nikola Gabrovski’ and fixing the area around ‘Vasil Nevski (The Palace of Culture and Sport’.

More than 1000 members and followers of the Bulgarian Socialist Party from Veliko Tarnovo area are expected to take part in the traditional Mount Buzludzha Fest. The event is going to take place on July, 31st and August, 1st. The official launch of Buzludzha 2015 is scheduled for 10.30 am on Friday. The leaders of the socialist party will introduce their mayor candidates and the key points in their campaign for the coming local elections in the autumn.
Complaints are flooding in about Blue Zone parking in Veliko Tarnovo. Residents are resenting having to pay for parking outside their own homes. The largest problems are occurring in the old part of town and directly in the centre. The local administration explained that tourism brings in trade and therefore tourists must have somewhere to park close to amenities and attractions.
There is a petition from locals demanding that there are alternative solutions as to where to park their cars. There was a possibility of a small parking lot in front of Tsaravets, but there is an ongoing discussion about this issue. Further to this point is an option to build new underground and surface parking lots, including multi-storey car parking to alleviate problems with the battle for car parking spaces.
A bakery in Veliko Tarnovo is distributing FREE bread to anyone who maybe in need. The euro initiative project is setting up mobile teams to visit the districts of Veliko Tarnovo and the villages around the entire municipality. Anyone can apply to receive the free bread supplies but the main beneficiaries are the poor and those with social benefits. The initiative will last two weeks starting from today. There is already an established schedule of locations and times to promote the “Campaign of free Bread”

So maybe you are fed up with the long waiting but reportedly the procedure for granting the concession for the management of the International Airport in Gorna Oryahovitsa will be open in a few days; the information was published in Trud Newspaper. The procedure is part of the Strategy for the development of the transport system of the Republic of Bulgaria until 2020. In the following days the Council of Ministers is expected to adopt a resolution to grant the management of the aerodrome to a financially stable private investor who is to strengthen the positions and widen the scope of the airport. The procedure itself will likely start in September and the concessionaire is expected to be chosen by the end of the year.
The replacement of a total of 180 flags on the western and eastern exits of Veliko Tarnovo starts from today. They are suspended from post lamps which are also to be repaired and repainted. The colours of the European Union, Bulgaria and Veliko Tarnovo will meet and see off everyone entering or leaving the Old Capital of Bulgaria. The impeccable condition of these insignia is a must for the Municipality as they are an important part of the positive image of Veliko Tarnovo.
