The 8th edition of Trabant Motor Show will take place on March, 18th in Veliko Tarnovo. The local Trabant Fan Club is expecting more than 80 East German cars from Bulgaria, Romania, Germany and Russia to participate in the expo.

The trabis, as some call them endearingly, will be on display at the parking lot between the Army Club Building and Marno Pole Park from 10 am till 11 am. From 11 till 12 am they will be in front of the Municipality. At 12 they will parade along the streets of Veliko Tarnovo on their way towards the parking in front of Praktiker. There Trabant owners will show off their expert driving skills. There will be prizes for best preserved vehicle and also for best car tuning.

This famous car was produced in the German Democratic Republic between the years 1957-1991 at a factory in Zwickau, during which period more than 3 million vehicles have been constructed.

Hemus Highway – one step closer to coming true

The project for the construction of Hemus Highway lot passing by Veliko Tarnovo was yesterday submitted for assessment and coordination in the Municipality by the design company that prepared it. Officially Hemus Motorway will run north of Polikraishte, about 13-14 km from the old capital. There will also be a large road junction where Hemus intersects the planned expressway between Ruse and Veliko Tarnovo. The Ruse – Veliko Tarnovo Expressway is to cross the current Sofia – Varna main arterial road near the village of Momin Sbor.

Also yesterday the government in resignation of Boyko Borisov decided to advance the allocation of nearly 23 million leva for the continued construction of Hemus Highway. It was once again stated that the completion of motorway is one of the main priorities of the Cabinet and is a key factor for the development of Northern Bulgaria.
