Tomorrow, 4th August, the Summer Theatre in Marno Pole Park will host a one-off projection of the 2014 Bulgarian movie Urok (The Lesson), directed by Christina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov. It is one of the most awarded Bulgarian flicks for the last 25 year, having won 12 awards and being nominated for another 7 at various international film festivals. Maybe your Bulgarian is not so good but still you can savour the atmosphere and enjoy a niece movie under the starry skies. Entrance is free.

During last year’s festival
The second Honey feast in the town of Elena will take place on July, 25th (Saturday) from 10.30 am at the town’s square. Many folklore singers and musicians as well as dance formations will take part in the celebrations. Visitors will hear interesting facts about honey, honey products and bees. They will also be presented with the opportunity to taste different types of honey – linden, acacia, honey dew and thistle.
Fancy a little culture then the international folklore festival begins this Saturday in the heart of Veliko Tarnovo. It will last for a week and consist of music and dance from 9 different countries: Belgium, Brazil, Georgia, Italy, Columbia, Martinique, Mexico, Korea and the United States. The youngest participant being only 8 years old from Martinique. The festival will begin with a parade along the main street before the official opening ceremony. All presentations will be held in the summer theatre where we have opportunity to watch and hear traditional American country, Korean dancers with sails, flag throwers and Shamanic dances with 5000 years of tradition. Sunday sees the 10th “Miss Festival” contest.
On Sunday, July 19, and then on Friday, July 24, are two evenings devoted to traditional kitchens to sample the delights of Brazil and Columbia, and Mexico and Martinique.

X Factor auditions begin tomorrow in Veliko Tarnovo for its fourth season – the most popular show on Bulgarian TV. Auditions are to be held at Hotel Yantra, Thur July 16 from 9.00 to 19.00, so expect huge crowds lining up for their moment in the spotlight. Remember you must prepare a song in Bulgarian and English with a third language optional. Any under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
There are no restrictions on style or upper age limit.
Participants may compete as solo performers and duets.
Special guest casting in Veliko Tarnovo will be finalist in the third season of X Factor, Mihaela Marinova.
After the Veliko Tarnovo castings continue in Varna, Burgas, Plovdiv and Sofia.

ABBA’s timeless hits will take over the towns of Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse and Lovech. The ABBA Tribute Concert in Veliko Tarnovo will be held on July 5th from 8 pm, the venue being Veliko Tarnovo Summer Theatre at Marno Pole Park. Famous Bulgarian singers and bands in collaboration with Ruse Philharmonic Orchestra are going to perform the greatest tracks of ABBA, one of the all-time super groups in music history.
