Finally there will be a new kids’ playground in the centre of Veliko Tarnovo

playThe construction of a kids’ playground which will also be suitable for disadvantaged and disabled children is currently under way in Marno Pole Park in Veliko Tarnovo. It is the second of its kind in Bulgaria. The old beat-up and dangerous see-saws, swings and slides have been dismantled and removed and the installation of the new elements which conform to all contemporary safety standards has begun.

The international search engine trivago.com specializing in hotel comparison and based in Germany nominated Veliko Tarnovo as the most hospitable town you can stay in Bulgaria.

This high appraisal is based on votes both by native and foreign tourists who visited Veliko Tarnovo. The town scored the most points compared to all the other places that participated in the survey. Hostel Mostel scored 91 points thus taking the very first place. At the beginning of the year the hostel was pronounced the best in Bulgaria by another internet site also. New museum in Veliko Tarnovo

Trapezitsa Hill

It will feature exhibits found during recent excavations. The new museum will be set up behind the South Tower at Trapezitsa Fortress

A Medieval Museum will be opened in Veliko Tarnovo. It will be located on Trapezitsa Hill; the edifice that will accommodate it is already built. It will feature items and exhibits that were discovered in archaeological excavations during recent years. The museum is part of the local authorities’ efforts to restore this hill which has significant place in Bulgarian history and also to popularize it among tourists. The project will cost Veliko Tarnovo Municipality around 750,000 euros.

British couple to build a nomad camping site near Veliko Tarnovo

yurtThe eco-camping will comprise of 12 yurts and 10 smaller tents

Two Britons are willing to set up a nomad camp near Veliko Tarnovo. It will be located near the village of Hotnitsa, some 20 km away from the town. The types of dwellings it will feature are yurts and smaller tents. Yurts are circular domed tents consisting of a framework of poles covered with felt or skins. They are traditionally used by nomads in Central Asia and were also used by proto-Bulgarians in ancient times.

The investment project is already submitted to the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water. There will also be 4 portable ablution containers. The camp site will span at 460 sqm and will accommodate up to 44 people.

A modern yurt

The camp will be built near a mineral water spring and under the investment plan the water will be bottled reaching maximum volume of 2200 litres per day. An on-site sewage treatment plant will also be installed.

The project is currently under consideration and is awaiting the approval of the local authorities.
