Organics Farmers Market to be opened in Veliko Tarnovo

organicfoodOrganic Food Producers have voiced their request for a specially designated Farmers Marker where there can sell their fresh produce. According to them it will be best if it is held once a week at a place allocated by the Municipality. Talks about the exact location are underway now; farmers hope that it will be a lively spot which can be visited by everyone interested, like Marno Pole Park or Buzludzha Neighbourhood. Fruit, vegetables, dairy and meat products will be offered at the Organic Farmers Market. Most likely the first edition of the event is going to be around Veliko Tarnovo’s Official Holiday – March, 22nd.

The ice rink in Veliko Tarnovo is now operating

The ice rink

An open air ice rink covering 400 sqm is now operating in Veliko Tarnovo. It opened doors on December, 9th. The facility is set up in the parking lot at the northern entrance of Ivaylo Town Stadium. Last year the ice skating rink was placed in front of Vasil Levski Palace of Culture and Sports.

The owner of the rink keeps the good tradition he established and children from orphanages in Veliko Tarnovo Municipality skate for free. The fee for pupils and students is 3 leva per hour and for adults – 4  leva. A pair of skates can be rented for 2 leva per hour.

There are 250 pairs of skates available, ranging from size 27 to size 47. Also there will be free lessons for those who are not confident in their skating skills.

Veliko Tarnovo awarded as the most comprehensively developing tourist destination

Veliko Tarnovo was awarded the prestigious award for the most comprehensively developing tourist destination for 2015. Recently the Bulgarian Hotel and Restaurant Association awarded its 20th annual awards for professional achievements in the field of hotel and restaurant management.

The Old Bulgarian capital was honoured for his significant contribution to the development of a tourist destination with permanent season, for the substantial improvement of tourism infrastructure and attractions and for increasing the quality of the tourist and catering services.

Highly praised was the effort of Veliko Tarnovo and local tourism enterprises working consistently for a concept that turns the town and region in a prestigious, authoritative and desirable destination that virtually offers all year round tourist season with good prices and high quality services.

The role of the Mayor of Veliko Tarnovo Municipality was also noted – he is the only acting mayor of a municipality in the country that has profound experience and considerable contribution to the development of tourism. Before being elected Mayor of Veliko Tarnovo, Daniel Panov was manager of the Tsarevgrad Tarnovo Municipal Tourism Agency.

It is every child’s dream for Santa Claus to visit them in their homes and bring them the most wanted and awesome presents. They all hope they were really good during the year so that Santa doesn’t skip them in the night when all wishes come true.

Tsarevgrad Tarnovo Municipal Tourism Agency has come up with a brilliant idea – citizens of Veliko Tarnovo now have the opportunity to invite Father Christmas to visit their homes and to bring joy and delight to their children on 24 and 25 December 2015.

The stopover of  the joyous, white-bearded  man can be prearranged at the Tourist Information Centre Street at 5 Hristo Botev str and/or by phone – 062/622 148, 062/600 768 and 0887 659 829. The fee is 25 leva.

New 2 leva coin goes into circulation

Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) will release the new 2 leva coin on December, 7th. It has a diameter of 26.5 mm and bears the image of Paisiy Hilendarski. BNB has minted 12 million leva in 2 leva coins waiting to be put into circulation.

The National Bank also stresses that banknotes with a nominal value of 2 leva (1999 and 2005 emissions) will continue to be legal tender after December, 7th.

The lifespan of a bill is between 13 and 14 months whereas a coin lasts 30 years.
