The first design for a covered bridge over the Yantra revealed

The first design for a covered bridge spanning over the Yantra River is now ready and was approved at a meeting held by the Yantra Bridge – Asenevtsi Initiative Committee. The ambitious undertaking was announced last year and it quickly captured the public attention. The author of the idea, Martin Pavlov, said that he was convinced the project would be implemented by the end of 2020. New sports complex with 2 swimming pools opens in Veliko Tarnovo

The new sport complex is presently under construction

A new swimming complex with facilities for sport, recreation and rehabilitation is under construction currently in Veliko Tarnovo; as part of the complex there will also be a physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians’ office. This information was published in yesterday’s issue of Borba Newspaper. The sports grounds will be accommodated in the no-longer functioning building of the former Radio & Electronics High School. The site will be used for also for training and to host competitions. The place is currently undergoing major renovation and is expected to start operating at the beginning of the summer.

The new sports complex will be called Radio and will have span over ​​1895 sqm. It will also feature an indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a hall for handball, volleyball and basketball. The internal swimming pool measures 25 by 12 meters and is also fit for competitions. The outdoor one will be available for mass sports and outdoor recreation. The renovated swimming complex will also have several playgrounds for other sports.

Transfiguration Festival 2016 to be held in Veliko Tarnovo

The second edition of the Transfiguration Festival will be held in Veliko Tarnovo this year. The town will meet more than 3000 Bulgarian and foreign artists representing various fields of art between 19th and 21st August and will span a bridge between past and present.

Last year the festival took place in the village of Dolen in the Rhodope Mountains. The event encompasses a variety of art genres and a strive towards a constant transformation and pursuit of harmony and unity.

The venue will be Tsarevets Fortress which will host 3 nights of experimental music concerts under the starry skies. Many artists will present theirs crafts along the artisan Samovodska Charshia in Veliko Tarnovo. There will also be many workshops, exhibitions and digital installations. Citizens and guests of Veliko Tarnovo will be able to see world-renowned artists creating theirs masterpieces literally in front of their eyes. The official programme of the Transfiguration Festival Veliko Tarnovo 2016 will be officially announced in one month’s time.

Property prices in Veliko Tarnovo are on the rise

 

house-prices-up1An article published in yesterday’s issue of Yantra Dnes Newspaper says that the property market in Veliko Tarnovo is starting to feel the pressure of a different crisis – there  are no more properties left which can meet clients’ demands. The article also points that people are now oriented towards buying fully-furnished and equipped newly-built apartments. The demand is highest for 1- and 2-bedroom apartments. Clients are willing to give more than 40,000 euro if such an apartment meets their criteria. However these are the properties which are hardest to be found these days. The market is starved for good-quality apartments and they are nowhere in sight. Continue Reading

Veliko Tarnovo Population Statistics

The local newspaper of Borba published some data today which shows that the number of people living in Veliko Tarnovo, based on their permanent address registration, is 72,938. The second most populated town in the municipality is Debelets with its 4007 permanent residents. Kilifarevo is the home of 2446 people.

Resen apparently is the largest village; the population there is 1946. 1495 are the officially registered people living in Samovodene. The list continues with Ledenik – 872, Belyakovets – 793, Vodoley – 788, Prisovo – 773 and Pchelishte – 609. Arbanasi is the permanent place of abode to 299 people.
