Arbanasi celebrates its official holiday on 15th August

 

Arbanasi is ready to welcome thousands of guests for its official village holiday on 15 August – The Assumption of the Virgin Mary into Heaven, which is widely celebrated in Bulgaria. Believers and pilgrims are flocking to Arbanasi on that day to pray in the Holy Assumption of the Virgin Mary Monastery which is located in Arbanasi; it is also known as The Monastery with the Miraculous Icon Virgin Mary Troeruchitsa and is located in the south-western part of the village.

The festive programme is full with events and starts at 9.00 am on Saturday with a chess tournament. From 11 am till 3 pm Horse Show Jumping Competition will be held at the Equestrian Club premises at Arbanasi. These two events are only some of the many that are organized for the day – a stage will be set up which will host many performances during the day.
